Helping shape the visual world of To All the Boys I've Loved Before was a rewarding experience that blended contemporary environments with the warm, personal tone of the story. In my role within the art department, I prepared detailed drawing concepts, developed graphic elements for the sets, and helped guide the overall visual direction to ensure each location supported the emotional atmosphere of the film. Collaborating closely under Production Designer Paul Joyal, the goal was to create spaces that felt authentic, youthful, and visually engaging.
I also coordinated departmental project budgets and provided creative direction for computer playback sequences, supplying graphic content that the playback artist could animate for use on screen. The production relied entirely on practical locations, which meant each space required thoughtful planning and design to integrate graphics and story elements seamlessly. The work on the film contributed to a Leo Awards nomination for Production Design in 2019, recognizing the collaborative effort behind the film’s distinctive visual style.
