The darkly twisted world of Fresh made for a fascinating and unforgettable experience as an Art Director. Blending horror, thriller, and biting social commentary, the film demanded environments that could shift between everyday realism and unsettling tension. With an exceptional cast bringing the story to life, the visual design played an important role in grounding the film’s tone while allowing its more daring elements to unfold.
Working under Production Designer Jennifer Morden, I coordinated the art department heads to ensure the overall design vision translated smoothly across every set. Several of the major builds were particularly unique and carefully engineered to support the film’s darker themes, making them both creatively challenging and rewarding to execute. The production combined approximately sixty percent real locations with forty percent studio builds, creating a layered visual world that balanced authenticity with controlled design.
