The medical drama Heartbeat offered an exciting opportunity to contribute to the pilot as Assistant Art Director and Graphic Designer. The show’s fast paced hospital setting required detailed and believable medical environments, and I worked closely with Production Designer Ricardo Spinace and the Art Director to develop the graphics and visual elements that helped define the look of the series. Many of the key design components for the sets were prepared and organized by me, ensuring that the visual materials supported both the practical needs of filming and the creative vision of the production.
A significant portion of the work involved coordinating the studio builds and creating the graphic packages that appeared throughout the hospital environments. One of the most striking spaces was the large observation and surgical room set, which became a centerpiece of the pilot’s visual design. The production combined extensive studio construction with practical location work, allowing the art department to craft a detailed and convincing medical world that balanced realism with cinematic style.
