The powerful story behind Unsilenced carries an important message about courage and human rights, and contributing to the film’s final sequences was both meaningful and creatively rewarding. Serving as Production Designer for the Vancouver pickups, I was tasked with recreating key Chicago settings, including the newspaper office bullpen and surrounding street environment. Working closely with director Leon Lee, I carefully reviewed previously shot footage to ensure the visual tone and continuity matched seamlessly with the existing material.
Through detailed scouting and layout proposals, the selected locations were shaped to represent the story’s Chicago setting convincingly. I oversaw the project’s design budget, coordinated graphics and playback elements, and assembled the set decorating and props department heads needed to execute the work efficiently. The pickups were completed entirely on practical locations with no structural builds, relying instead on carefully designed office graphics and environmental details to blend naturally into the film’s already established world.
